e The Musicians' Union e

“The musicians union is a UK based trade union for all musicians, they are a globally-respected organisation which represents over 30,000 musicians working in all sectors of the music business.”

“They specialise in legal affairs and helping musicians in any way they can, they have  specialist full time employees who can help members of the union with anything ranging from copyright protection to valuable contractual advice or from the recovery of unpaid fees to crucial work in health and safety”

“The Musicians Union was set up to protect the rights of musicians, There is a whole range of advice and guidance available including approved performance and recording contract for things like session work as well as legal advice available. Joining the MU gives one access to these.”

“The MU also plays a big part in government policy and is influential in shaping such policies, it allows musicians to stay in touch with issues that affect them and acts as a feedback forum”

While this may not affect my main business, this does affect my career in music and how I go about making decisions based on some of the legal and helpful advice this service offers, I can always look to them for help as well as for resources to further my career
