What laws and regulations directly are affecting your industry? How do they affect you? (remember the argument about how "laws restrict us whilst protecting our rights")

One law that comes up a lot is “Copyright Infringement Protection” this law was put in place to prevent to unauthorized or prohibited use of protected material, an artist with a copyright can seek legal action such as monetary damages and associated expenses from anyone who uses the protected work in an unauthorized or prohibited fashion, it can also be used as direct evidence that the person with the copyright to the protected material owns it any duplicates are a case of copyright infringement.

Name an example of a legal case which affected a creative business or professional in your industry. What was the argument? How was it resolved? What does it mean for your creative industry in the future?

There was a specific case earlier this year in which a christian artist “Flame” claimed singer “Katy Perry” copied his song “Joyful Noise” to create her song “Dark Horse”, the argument was that she and the producers/songwriters involved in making the song stole a specific melodic motif from “Joyful Noise” which in turn violated flame’s rights as the owner of the melody, Flame and the other plaintiffs involved in the suit claim that, not only did Perry appropriate elements of the song, but that the video tarnished their production by using imagery associated with black magic and witchcraft; ideologies that Flame strongly opposes.

Conclusion

This can help me massively in my music career, as taking cues on what not to do while releasing music and selling beats may stop me from getting into legal troubles and bad social situations with other artists and producers.
