How Cultural Policies Effect Your Business
Review & highlight the cultural policies that might effect your business and why.
Why might these policies effect you? What impact do they have on your business?
Everyone Should Enjoy The Opportunities Culture Offers, No Matter Where They Start In Life
This policy does not necessarily negatively effect my business, in fact, it effects it in a very positive way, the quote “Everyone Should Enjoy The Opportunities Culture Offers, No Matter Where They Start In Life” resonates with me and my business, our main goal is to provide disadvantaged, less fortunate, less knowledgeable (less background knowledge) students, graduates and young people with the opportunity to obtain the skills and knowledge needed to gain a job in the creative industry.
My business can in theory, and hopefully in practice “promote clearer pathways into the cultural sectors”, one of our main points of focus will be “tackling barriers to working as a professional in the arts.” as the fact that there are so many talented but underprivileged students who cannot get a career in the creative arts industry due to their situations is atrocious, and my business will focus on being able to give young people that chance.
“It is only when those opportunities are universally available that we will be sure that we are making the best use of talent, one of our greatest natural resources.”, this quote sums up what my business is aiming to do, make these opportunities universally available for the betterment of the individuals, their communities and the united kingdom as a whole.
The power of culture can increase our international standing
This policy is something we as a business hold near to our heart, having young people using our service, gaining skills, and then going out into the global creative arts industry as professionals is one of the most important things we want to focus on, as the betterment of the creative industry is beneficial to us as a business as well as them as individuals.
Advances in the creative industry on a local, nationwide, and global scale are beneficial for everyone involved. This is a fact, the “Creative Industries Federation (The CIF)” released a report in 2018 based on the “role the creative industries play in driving growth and innovation”, the quote “The creative industries are the fastest-growing sector in the UK economy, with the potential to unlock even more significant growth.” made me think, if it is the “fastest-growing sector” means more jobs and employment opportunities are opening up all over the country, and almost constantly. “One in eight UK enterprises are creative enterprises, collectively responsible for generating £101.5 billion gross value added (GVA) to our economy”, this is a whole lot of money which a whole lot of people had to work very hard to make, this is why jobs in the creative industries are at an all-time high right now, even with covid, freelance work, commission work, and remote work have all increased due to people being stuck in their homes and not able to go into an office, which makes it easier for creatives to be able to apply to jobs which are far away from them, maybe even in a different country, and near to them.
The riches of our culture should benefit communities across the country
This policy is extremely important to us as a business, I personally feel like the class divide and the poverty line globally are horrible things in general and completely unfair, why can someone who is of a higher class and with more money or connections have a better chance of getting into the creative industry (or any industry), whether it be as a career (jobs, internships, apprenticeships, etc) or as a freelancer getting big commissions due to who they know instead of their talents or how hard they've worked for it.
One of the cultural white papers main policies is “There should be better access to skills development and clearer pathways for talent, where it emerges”, I think this is extremely important, which is why my business will endeavor to give and develop a myriad of skills to those disadvantaged and underprivileged young people to use going forward and give a helping hand into gaining them opportunities for their future career in the creative industry.
Conclusion
These cultural policies do effect my business, but only in positive ways rather than negatives, every cultural policy that I’ve chosen relates back to my business in some way as they are all things we want to work on and are really close to my heart.
